Privacy Policy
At FastClip, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web application, mobile application, APIs, TestFlight builds, and services.
Summary
We collect only what's necessary to provide our service. Your content remains yours. We use trusted third-party services for specific features and never sell your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
Personal Information
When you create an account and use FastClip, we collect:
- Email Address: Used for account authentication, product access, and account communication
- Name and Profile Information: Your display name, profile image, and account profile details when provided by you or your sign-in provider
- Authentication Information: Session identifiers, OAuth identifiers, and security metadata needed to keep you signed in
- Sign in with Apple: If you sign in with Apple, we receive a user identifier from Apple, the email address Apple shares with us, and the name you choose to share. If you choose to hide your email, Apple gives us a private relay address that forwards to your inbox
- Support Messages: Messages you send to the FastClip team in the in-app Chat tab, and our replies
- Consent Records: Your confirmation that you own or have permission to use the videos you import, your agreement to AI processing, and when you gave them
- Publishing Preferences: Your preferred post templates, source citation settings, connected-platform settings, and finished-clip formatting choices
User Content
To provide our clip creation service, we process:
- Source Videos and URLs: Media files you upload and URLs you import from supported platforms such as YouTube, X and Google Drive
- Source Metadata: Titles, authors, publication dates, platform names, video identifiers, durations, thumbnails, language, and crop settings
- Text Inputs and Templates: Descriptions, captions, source-citation text, publishing templates, and other context you provide for drafts and finished clips
- Generated Content: Draft clips, finished clips, Instagram-ready renders, transcripts, word timing, captions, generated titles, generated descriptions, thumbnails, and final videos
Technical Information
- Device Information: Device make and model, device type, memory, operating system and version, browser, app version, build and update identifiers, screen size, language, time zone, and network type (for example Wi-Fi or cellular), plus a random installation identifier. We use these to support you, reproduce bugs, and keep the app working on your device
- Network and Approximate Location: Your IP address and the approximate location derived from it by our network provider Cloudflare (country, region, city, postal code, approximate coordinates, and time zone). We keep the first and most recent values with your account for support, security, abuse prevention, and to understand where our users come from. We do not collect precise GPS location
- Analytics Events: Product analytics such as page views, landing-page clicks, session events, and feature usage processed by PostHog to improve the app. We do not record PostHog session replay or screen recordings on the landing page
- Push Notification Tokens: If you turn on notifications, the push token and name of each device you register, so we can send notifications to it
- Logs and Security Metadata: Request metadata, API responses, processing status, error logs, abuse-prevention signals, and operational diagnostics needed to run and secure the service
- Attribution: How you found FastClip: the referring website, the landing page and button you used, campaign tags (UTM parameters), and advertising click identifiers (such as gclid, fbclid, or msclkid) from the link that brought you. Recorded once when you first sign in
Subscription and Payment Data
- Subscription Status: Whether you have a free, beta, trial, or paid account
- Usage Metrics: Number of imported sources, generated drafts, finished clips, published posts, and AI credits used for managing plan limits
- Purchase History: Records of subscription and payment events. Payment processing is handled by Stripe; Stripe provides us customer, subscription, payment status, and related identifiers so we can unlock features and manage billing
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the Service: Process your media, generate clips, create transcripts and captions, render finished videos, and prepare posts
- Authentication: Verify your identity and keep your account secure
- AI Generation: Generate titles, descriptions, source metadata, captions, and publishing text from your inputs and media context
- Publishing: Publish content to connected platforms such as X and Instagram when you direct FastClip to do so
- Subscription Management: Track your usage and manage your plan
- Service Improvement: Understand usage patterns to improve the app, fix bugs, improve reliability, and enhance features
3. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to power specific features:
- Google and Better Auth: Account sign-in, authentication, and session management
- Apple (Sign in with Apple): Account sign-in in the iPhone app. Apple shares a user identifier, an email address or private relay address, and the name you choose to share
- OpenAI/Anthropic: AI-powered title, description, caption, source metadata, and publishing-text generation. We send them transcripts and other text, such as your descriptions and source details
- Deepgram: Speech-to-text transcription, word timing, captions, diarization, and language detection. We send Deepgram the audio of the videos you import
- AWS/S3/Lambda: Secure cloud storage and media processing for uploaded source files, generated clips, thumbnails, and render jobs
- Stripe: Checkout, subscriptions, billing portal, payment status, tax, fraud, and related customer or subscription identifiers
- PostHog: Product analytics so we can measure aggregate usage and improve stability and UX. We send event names and properties; we do not use PostHog session replay on the landing page
- X and Instagram: Connected account authentication and publishing actions that you request. When you connect an Instagram professional account, we receive and store its account ID, username, name, and an access token. For each Reel you publish through FastClip, we store its media ID and link and read its metrics (views, reach, likes, comments, shares, and saves) to show them to you. We use Instagram data only to publish the clips you choose and to show you their results. Removing the Instagram account in Settings deletes the access token from FastClip; the links and metrics of Reels already published stay with your finished clips until you delete those clips or your account. You can also remove FastClip in Instagram under Settings, then Website permissions or Apps and websites
- Apple/TestFlight: Beta distribution, tester access, crash/session metrics, and tester feedback for TestFlight builds
- Cloudflare: Hosting, CDN, DNS, security, and deployment infrastructure for FastClip websites and API, including approximate location derived from IP addresses
- Expo: Development and runtime tooling used to build and run the app. If you turn on notifications, the Expo push notification service delivers them to your device through the Apple Push Notification service. Expo receives the device push token and the notification text
- Loops: Email delivery for the notifications you turn on and for product emails. Product emails include an unsubscribe link
- Telegram: Messages you send in the in-app Chat tab are delivered to the FastClip team through Telegram, and the team replies from there. Operational alerts about account activity, such as sign-ins, new imports, draft clips, finished clips, and connecting a social account, also reach the team through Telegram. These alerts can include your email address, your plan, your approximate location (country and city), source details, thumbnails, copies of your clips, and the username and name of an X or Instagram account you connect
AI Processing and Your Consent
Before your first import, the app asks you to confirm that you own the videos you import or have permission to use them. It also asks you to agree that FastClip sends the audio of your videos to Deepgram for transcription, and sends transcripts and other text to OpenAI and Anthropic to generate titles, captions, and descriptions. These providers process the data on FastClip's behalf to provide the service. FastClip does not import a video until you agree.
4. Data Storage and Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
- Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure
- Media files are stored using cloud object storage and access controls
- We use industry-standard security practices
- Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only
- User workspace records are scoped to their owners through authenticated API access
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services:
- Account Data: Retained while your account exists. After you delete your account, we keep only the limited records described under Account Deletion, unless the law requires us to keep more
- Sources, Projects, and Videos: Stored until you delete them, delete your account, or they are no longer needed to provide the service
- Transcripts and Generated Metadata: Retained with your drafts and finished clips so the product can display, edit, republish, and audit the work you created
- Connected Account Data: Retained while the connection is active or as needed to support publishing history, security, and disconnection flows
- Device and Network Diagnostics: We keep the most recent reports from up to 12 devices per account, and the first and most recent IP address and approximate location, until you delete your account
- Support Chat: Retained until you delete your account. Copies of messages and alerts that were delivered to the FastClip team through Telegram can remain in Telegram
- Server Logs: Retained for a limited time and then deleted on their normal schedule
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time in the iPhone app or on the web. Open Settings, scroll to the Account section, tap Delete account and confirm. Step-by-step instructions are at fastclips.app/delete-account.
Deletion removes your account, sessions, sources, drafts, finished clips, templates, connected X and Instagram tokens, device reports, and support chat, and removes stored media that only your account uses. If you have an active paid subscription, we cancel it. Posts you already published to X or Instagram stay on those platforms until you delete them there.
If you cannot sign in, email anatolii@fastclip.it from your account email address and ask us to delete your account.
After deletion, we keep only: an email suppression entry so we never email you again; limited billing records that tax and accounting law requires us to keep (Stripe keeps its own records as our payment processor); server logs until they age out on their normal schedule; and copies of support messages and activity alerts that already reached the FastClip team through Telegram. We may also keep data when the law requires it, for example to answer a valid legal request. This retained data is not used for marketing or shared with third parties except as described in this policy.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data only:
- With service providers who help us operate the app (as listed above)
- With connected platforms when you direct FastClip to authenticate, connect accounts, or publish content
- To comply with legal obligations or valid legal requests
- To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you)
Internal Use for Service Improvement
We may analyze usage patterns, app performance data, and aggregated user behavior to improve our Service, fix bugs, and enhance features. This analysis is conducted internally and such data is never shared with, sold to, or disclosed to third parties for marketing, advertising, or any other external purpose.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal information
- Update: Correct or update your account information
- Delete: Delete your account and associated data in the app (Settings, then Account, then Delete account), or by email if you cannot sign in
- Disconnect Platforms: Remove connected X or Instagram accounts in Settings
- Notifications and Email: Turn notifications off in the app or in your device settings, and unsubscribe from product emails with the link in each email
- Analytics and Cookies: Use browser or device controls to limit cookies, storage, and analytics where available
8. Children's Privacy
FastClip is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. By using FastClip, you consent to this transfer.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
